ViWaT - Vietnam Water Technologies

ViWaT - Engineering
Water, Energy and Construction Technologies

In the project ViWaT-Engineering German and Vietnamese partners work on the development and implementation of sustainable strategies, concepts and technical measures to counteract progressing destabilization and depopulation of the Mekong-Delta, which are mainly consequences of increasing land and drinking water loss. The work will in particular focus on coastal protection and water management. The uniqueness of the project is its interdisciplinary and integrative approach, which is assured by the collaboration between scientists of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and a variety of industrial partners, combining different engineering and geoscientific disciplines (i.e. civil engineering, geology, hydrochemistry, climatology, remote sensing and ecology).
